6.1.2 Broken Families and Domestic Clashes

Family is the basic and primary unit of society. That provides four main functions,

including production, reproduction, socialization etc. When the family system is not
functioning well, that leads to creating some harmful effects on society. Mainly, it

happened through breaking the socialization process. According to the research
findings, most of the female sex workers do not claim for a satisfying life from their
childhood an also their marriage life. Some of their families are single-parent

families, or some are families without parents. Some women are in this situation
because after their husband has died. Another two women have become to sex
workers with getting the divorce. Most of the families are broken. One of the

participants emphases that as follows

When the researcher listen to the Participant number 08, she explained her story like

this. “With my birth, mother left this world, and my father also started another affair
with a garment girl. So, I had to live with my grandmother. Everybody admires my
beauty. Really, I had a beautiful shape with long hair. So, many persons try to marry

me. But I selected a businessman as my partner. After two years, I had to be alone
with a baby because husband left me on false charges. With that, I did not get any
support from family members or relatives. So, as an option, I selected prostitution to

find money to live.”

According to that, broken families help to women engage as sex workers. Emile

Durkheim’ s theory of suicide also essential to analyze this kind of situation because
when social integration is high, it decreases the deviant behaviors and when social
integration is less, it leads to creating deviant behaviors in society. Prostitution is an

excellent example of the most famous deviant behavior, with the breaking family
system that her social integration was decreased. The society refused her. So, with
that, she was worked as a prostitute. Domestic clashes also an essential factor which

women become to prostitute. Domestic violence against women creates oppressive
feelings towards women more than physical damages. Sometimes that situation
causes to women to select a profession like prostitution. According to that, there is a
