women become a prostitute.

6.1.3 Migrating to Another Country for Domestic Services

Migration is affected by society both negatively and positively. Research findings
prove that many women migrate to another country for domestic works (Especially,

Middle East Countries). Due to some of the reason’s women have to engage in
prostitution with migration. After the movement they have not proper protection,

proper attention from their parents or family members, proper social relationships,
they feel alone as well as they do not have a familiar person to share their feelings.
That situation creates a helpless background for that kind of women. So, quickly they

become sex workers. Most of the time, women get raped in those homes. Notably,
they can’t get help from anybody. Some of the women migrate to work as domestic

servants, but they become prostitutes willingly. Although women raped by force,
according to the situation most of the time, they have to bear it. Especially some
organized Sri Lankan families, they maintaining brothels by using Sri Lankan women

(Especially in Dubai).

According to the research findings, the procedure is for that when women are
subjected to domestic violence abroad, and they escape from those houses. Then such

women are deceived and taken care for a few periods. After that, women put into the
brothels which maintaining by them. Most of the female sex workers used in this

study had been migrated to Middle East countries as domestic servants, and when
they come back, they have become prostitutes.

It is possible to take here participant number one’s experience, “I’m Samadi. I went

to Dubai for two years as a domestic servant. But that home owner (Babu) beaten me
in several times. One day he raped me by force with serious injuries. After that every
day, he engaged with me for sexual activities. But not only him but also his son and

one of their relative people, with that unknowingly I have to become a prostitute”.
One of the highlights of this study is women who have gone overseas for domestic
