2. Literature Review
Flowers,B. (1998), in his book which is “ The prostitution of women and girls”
emphasize the prostitution as a sexual relationship among the paying customer and
prostitute. Specially it examine two kinds of definitions for prostitution, such as legal
definitions and Social definitions. In social definition,
“Prostitution as sexual relations that include some form of monetary payment or
barter and are characterized by promiscuity and or emotional apathy”.
It provides by base on the social aspects of prostitution like monetary, emotional
factors. Especially, social definitions of prostitution depending on the cultural and
social context of a particular society. This kind of social definitions can be different
from time to time and society to society. Legal definitions are the second type of
categorizing prostitution. Under the legal definition it is mainly based on female
prostitution more than other types of prostitution. Shahid Qayyum et al (2013)
conducted a research on “Causes and Decisions of Women’s Involvement into
Prostitution and Its Consequences In Panjab, Pakistan’’. There were several findings
for under the causes such economic crisis, poverty, illness in the family, domestic
clashes and early marriages, forced rape or assault, drug abuse, sex for enjoyment. Its
emphasis under the customer’s behavior while having sex as refusing for payment,
kidnapping and sexual assault, forcefully abusive acts, physically abuse and violence,
call names, tie and sexual abuse. As well as it concludes the consequences of
prostitution such as unwanted pregnancy, abortion, unwanted children, HIV/IDS,
drug addiction, ovarian issues etc.
Clare Bellhouse et al (2012), study on “The impact of sex women’s personal romantic
relationships and the mental separation of their work and personal lives; A mixed
method study. Particularly this study has conduct by using fifty-five women working
in the indoor sex industry in Melbourne, Australia by using questionnaires both open
ended and close ended. further six women interviewed to check the accuracy of the
questionnaire findings. That research finds most women (78%) reported that their sex
