activities that restricted early including high risk behaviors. They only have an
unclear perception of real risk level of these experiences and don’t have idea about
consequences. When taking a decision, they don’t know whether it is necessary or
not by themselves. E.g.: alcohol or drug abuse, promiscuous sexual behaviors. Not
only because of the strict rules, but also by the unlimited freedom and resources that
provide by parents also lead children to risk taking behavior.
3.5 Approval Seeking Behavior
Children who face to over parenting in the childhood, children try to depend on
others’ opinion. The reason to that is parents don’t let them to logically make decision
on themselves and their autonomy has challenged since childhood experiences. When
parents always involve in their life tasks, they don’t know how think logically and
seek solutions to problems. These children always put themselves second and seeking
approval of others. They become vulnerable and helpless without parents’ opinion in
adulthood.
They have fear to criticisms, rejections or judgments. Before take a decision they
always think about outsider’s validation. Shame and doubt also play special role here.
Over parented children have doubt on themselves as they don’t have enough
capability to complete their tasks and shame on what will happen if they have done
any wrong thing? They believe they can’t manage anything probably. Such kind of
lack of confidence or lack of self-worth is huge negative impact of over parenting on
one’s personality.
