Personal Sexuality Becoming a commodity

1. Introduction
Gender and sexuality are two different terms, commonly used to identify the diversity
of human nature. The term “gender” is a socially constructed one, and sexuality is a
biological phenomenon which is based on biological factors, and that is a universal
concept inherited from nature. The term sex worker has been adopted as is it free of
complicated, derogatory and sexist connotations which are more commonly
associated with the term “prostitute” (Harocopos & Hough, 2000). The situation has
become a human right crisis of sexual abuse voluntarily or involuntarily not only that
thousands of people, including both men and women but also children. According to
historical pieces of evidence, prostitution is the oldest profession in the world.
Statistical data shows that women are engaged as sex workers more than men and
children. According to that, when today, women personal sexuality has become a
commodity more than previous. In particular, with the spread of global capitalism,
sexuality and female sex workers are considered as most important factors which are
aligned sexual workforce as well as a commodity, it spread around the world as
outstanding service.Prostitution and women in prostitution have become the focus of
growing interest in the social work profession in recent years (Wahab, 2002). State
that sex industries work on the same principles of supply and demand as other
industries (Taylor & Jamieson, 1999).
Prostitution is a marketing aspect and will be a business or practice of providing
sexual services to another person to gain sexual satisfaction in return for payment.
Prostitution is commonly defined as a custom of having sexual relations in exchange
