The second objective involves adapting and applying best practices. The study
aims to identify, adapt, and propose evidence-based best practices for
improving accessibility and inclusion in online teaching and learning within
the Sri Lankan higher education context. It will explore whether these
practices align with existing policies and guidelines, with the ultimate goal of
enhancing the online educational experience for students with disabilities.
These practices, designed to improve accessibility and inclusion in online
teaching and learning, will be tailored to suit Sri Lanka's socio-cultural and
educational context.
In the third objective, the study seeks to evaluate the current state of
accessibility and inclusion within existing online teaching and learning
platforms in Sri Lanka. This evaluation will particularly focus on
understanding the experiences of students with disabilities and determining
how well the present online education environment caters to their diverse
needs.
The fourth objective aims to propose evidence-based recommendations for
improvement. These recommendations will be crafted to bridge the gaps and
challenges in accessibility and inclusion faced by students with disabilities in
the realm of online teaching and learning. They will provide actionable
strategies that institutions, educators, and policymakers can adopt to enhance
the accessibility and inclusivity of online education for these students.
