Message from the Acting Director of the Physical

Education Unit

In the sport of Badminton, many Sri Lankans represented
the Summer Olympics, which is the most prestigious
multi-sport event in the world. As same as Cricket and
athletics, we can be proud of the achievements gained
through badminton on the international stage.

I would like to mention that Ms. Dilupa Priyadarshani, in
charge of Badminton along with the Physical Education
unit and undergraduates of the University of Ruhuna,
organized an invitational age group Badminton
Championship with participation of more than 500 school-level players to promote
Badminton within the school and university community.

I am grateful to the Ruhuna University Staff Badminton Association, who are organising
this tournament, which will be helpful to the staff of the university to make an effective
change to their busy work schedule and promote both a mentally & physically active
lifestyle while expanding the relationship network.

I congratulate all the stakeholders of this championship for making this
event memorable.
