The globalization process has integrated the societies, economies, production systems, information and communication. The uniqueness of independent cultures has been tarnished with the gradual disappearance of nation states. The new potentials for industrialization and development through the influx of foreign investments and technology have transformed the developing countries.
In this process, the ethics, morality and spirituality of the human have been ignored. Suffering, anguish, torment, agony, misery and distress have affected the society. Environmental degradation and pollution, political conflicts, economic crises, social problems and many other predicaments have been inherited in the modern society, highlighting the necessity of focusing on morality and spiritual happiness.
The international conference on “Ethics, Morality and Spirituality in Globalized Society” is organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka to create a forum for researchers to address the challenges of a globalized society.
