Ms. K. Hirosha Lakmali joined the University of Ruhuna as a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Public Policy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2019. Prior to joining the University of Ruhuna, she had been employed as an Assistant Lecturer in Political Science at the Department of Economics, University of Ruhuna in 2015 and subsequently at the Department of Social Science, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka from 2017 to 2019. Ms. K.H. Lakmali graduated with B.A. Honours degree in Political Science from the University of Ruhuna Sri Lanka in 2014, and M.Sc. in Development Management from the University of Agder, Norway in 2018. While she was studying, she served as a research assistant of the research project, "Volunteer Sector”, University Agder, Norway in 2016.

Apart from academic and research interests, she is excessively passionate about volunteer service. In addition, she has represented Sri Lanka and the University of Ruhuna, in the Youth Camp for Asia’s Future in 2011 held in South Korea. She has won university colors in the year 2011 and 2013 for Taekwondo and she was the Vice-Captain of the Taekwondo team of the University of Ruhuna in the year 2013. She was an active volunteer and delegate, a member of several local and international organizations. Ms. Lakmali was an active member of Erasmus Students Network (ESN) Agder Norway and Community Project Coordinator of ESN in 2016. She was an active volunteer of LUNAR organization from 2015 to 2017 and she has participated in TRIPLEX International Humanitarian Camp held in Norway in 2016. Further, she had been awarded for the distinguished performance in the academic year 2015/2016 at the Department of Global Development and Planning, University of Agder, Norway.
