Dr.G.P.T.S. Hemakumara is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka , Dr.Hemakumara have successfully completed his PhD at the UniversitiSains Malaysia (USM in year 2015 . Dr.Hemakumara also obtained a BA Honours degree in Geography from the University of Colombo in 1996, a Masters Degree in Remote Sensing and GIS at AIT, Bangkok in 2001 and the Postgraduate Diploma in Town and Country Planning at the University of Moratuwa in 2010. Before he joined the University of Ruhuna as a Senior Lecturer, he was an Assistant Director in the GIS section of the Urban Development Authority of Sri Lanka where he obtained considerable industrial practice and experience in city planning. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Town Planners, Sri Lanka (ITPSL) and He has served as a council member of ITPSL in 2019/2020 session. His current research relates to the development of a Spatial Model in City Planning, Urban Climate resilient and Geo-statistic modelling.
